A couple of years ago my wife and I were interested in adding a patio in our backyard. We contacted three hardscape contractors to quote the project, which including DeSignia. At that time we were very impressed with the professionalism and knowledge that Henry DeBoer from DeSignia displayed when we my with him. However DeSignia was not the lowest quote that we received.

This past spring we decided to go ahead with our backyard patio and contacted the hardscape contractor that had the lowest price when we had previously bid the project. This particular contractor started the project in mid April with a promised completion date of the beginning of May. Three months later with the project half complete I was completely convinced that I had made a terrible decision on the selection of the contractor for my patio.

Recalling our meeting from a couple years prior, I decided to contact Henry to see if he could help me with my patio dilemma. Since I had not selected DeSignia to build my patio, I really was not expecting much help from Henry, however Henry agreed to meet with me to see what could be done. Henry provided some feedback and ideas on the existing patio structure in addition to a quotation to complete the project.

What a difference working with DeSignia versus the previous contractor. Their Project Manager, Steve DeLuca, and his crew were a pleasure to work with. Their dedication to doing a great job on a timely basis was quite evident. Before they started the job, DeSignia told me the patio would be complete in two weeks and two weeks later the patio was done. While DeSignia may not be the lowest cost hardscape contractor, I believe that they are well worth it. Knowing that you’re going to get a quality installation on a timely basis is priceless.

Dear Sirs:

This week, your fine team of landscape construction employees worked their magic over my front walkway, today leaving it handsomely renewed to as state of perfection with pleasing curves and attractive random placement of the new and old pavers. Further enhancing my pleasure is the fresh green of sod bordering the walk.

Throughout the time spent on the job, it was indeed refreshing to note how well each of the four team players worked together. Steve arrived promptly the first morning with James and Rigoberto and answered all of my questions to my completed satisfaction; he returned each day with words of encouragement for everyone. James and Rigoberto were able to remove all the bricks and excess soil that day and the next. When the reason for my mysterious seepage was revealed, I was ecstatic and relieved! The men took turns pumping out stagnant water and removing foul-smelling dirt and the next morning had the source permanently blocked with concrete. This problem having been solved, after the powdered gravel had been applied and tamped. James and Francisco quickly and efficiently lay the pavers, together creating the beautiful result I mentioned above. Then Francisco skillfully cut the pavers to fill in the odd-shaped spaces at the beginning and end of the walkway.

I couldn’t help but notice James’ leadership ability, inspiring both Rigoberto and Francisco to keep at it (in spite of the heat!) and give their all to the job. It was a treat as well to watch him solve the initial walkway width transition with the pavers, placing and replacing them until the effect satisfied him. I further commend James for his cooperative attitude and polite responses to my many questions and requests and for his insistence on leaving the site with a thorough clean-up.

Rigoberto uncomplaingly hauled load after load of surplus soil to a place near the pond where I needed it. I am most grateful to him and also to Francisco who today carried to the same place bags of odd pieces of sod.

Dear Mr. DeBoer:

I wanted to take a moment to tell you how pleased Beverly and I are with the finished product of the landscape work your firm has recently completed at our home on Crosstimbers Drive.

As you know, our property sits on a hill and the soil is extremely rocky. I was very embarrassed with the way I had allowed our yard to deteriorate prior to this past year. The lawn maintenance company we employed took little pride in its work, and the yard, over time, became sloppy and overgrown.

Then came Ashleigh and Steve of DeSignia to the rescue. Both were an absolute pleasure to work with. We were very impressed with Ashleigh’s vision and ultimate design of our yard plan, both in the backyard and the front. Steve, on the other hand, worked with determination and expertise to bring Ashleigh’s plan to life. Both are a credit to your company with respect to the quality of their work, their “customer first” attitude, and their attention to every detail to make the finished product an extremely satisfying one. I told Ashleigh that due to the soil quality (rock) of our backyard, I would be amazed if she could get anything to grow there. She and Steve happily proved me wrong.

Beverly and I want to thank you for this very satisfying experience of bringing our yard to life and giving us something to be extremely proud, rather than ashamed, of. Ashleigh and Steve were great and both should be commended for successfully tackling what I thought was a lost caused. We cannot wait until springtime to see the various colors of our new plantings come alive.
