The official birthday of DeSignia is July 1, 2005 however, the company has its official roots in a much older organization. This organization was Randy L. Sigg Limited.
In 1981, Randy Sigg had a vision to provide quality economical landscape gardening services to homeowners in the Charlotte area.
His focus was on personal service and attention to detail. As a natural result of this, demand for his service grew.
Before long, Randy was servicing some commercial clients as well. Names such as Bissell Hayes, Coca Cola, National Gypsum, and BSN-Jobst were among a few of the commercial accounts that were and remain proud to have Randy L Sigg – now DeSignia as their premier gardening service.
Many short term employees worked alongside Randy during the early years, but one employee remained loyal to Randy and remains a key figure in the organization today.
Steve Deluca who began with Randy by doing routine gardening services, now manages the landscape installation section of the company.
In 2002, Henry DeBoer joined Randy L. Sigg limited. In an effort to be more diversified, Henry opened the landscape installation side, and began to establish a good name among the building community.
Before long, word of mouth was establishing the landscape division as a self sustaining force at Randy L Sigg.
At this time, Matthew Posvar joined the team. Matthew brings his landscape knowledge to both the sales and installation aspect of the company.
In order to gain a more professional marketing image, and for future plans, Randy agreed to change the name of the company to DeSignia Inc.
DeSignia is an obvious play on both the DeBoer and Sigg names, but also has as its root, the word DESIGN which is the key first step to any successful landscape project.
Also the word “insignia” comes to mind lending a connection to the attached phrase “The Mark of Excellence.”
In 2006, Henry decided to make DeSignia Inc his own, and he purchased the company from Randy while retaining Randy as a valuable part of the management team.
Also in 2006, Mark Selles joined the team. Mark brings his design and management skill to the sales and marketing aspect of the company.
In 2007, Randy decided to move on to a teaching career at CPCC where he currently shares his expertise with young landscaping enthusiasts.
Also in 2007, one of these enthusiasts joined the DeSignia team. James Deboer, after operating his own small gardening service in Concord, NC, attended CPCC, where he studied under Randy Sigg among other professionals.
James brings his gardening experience and his eye for quality to the management of the maintenance side of the company.
In 2008, Ashleigh Geremia, another CPCC gardening enthusiast, joined the DeSignia team and brings her horticultural design skill and strong artistic background to the sales and marketing side of the company.
Each turning point in the History of DeSignia has brought the company closer to the success that it now enjoys.
